Muir High Football Players Sign With USC, Texas
Two John Muir High School football standouts are on their way to USC and the University of Texas after signing letters of intent Wednesday to join the respective organizations on full scholarships.
Safety and receiver Calen Bullock will be playing here in Southern California, while cornerback Jamier Johnson has formally pledged to become a Longhorn.
“It’s like a dream come true,” Bullock said.
“I’m really grateful for this,” he said. “Since day one, I’ve been working to get to this point in my life, and now that I’m here and I get to play for USC, close to home in front of my family, and with me always watching them growing up… and now I get to put on the Jersey and actually play for them.”
Bullock said he grew up playing the game.
“My older brothers and cousins had played football, so I watched them growing up and then I played at Robinson Park for Pasadena Ponies when I was younger,” he said
“I’ve always just been around football and love for the sport,” Bullock added.
Johnson said he first picked up a football at 4 or 5 years old “and fell in love with it from there.”
“So I continue to chase my dreams,” he said.
Johnson said he played Pop Warner Football for the Pasadena Panthers as a youth.
He said he was looking forward to the next chapter.
“There’re definitely high expectations, so I’m just ready to get in and prove what I got,” he said.
