Muir Mustangs Poised for Another Championship Run in 2025

John Muir High School Mustangs enter the 2025 football season with the weight of high expectations—and the talent to match. Coming off a stellar 2024 campaign that saw them finish 9-3 overall and go undefeated (7-0) in Pacific League play to claim the league championship, the Mustangs are determined to build on last year’s success.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Lance Mitchell, the team’s 2024 season ended in heartbreak with a narrow 27-28 loss to St. Francis in the CIF Southern Section Division 6 Quarterfinals. That defeat has only fueled their hunger to push deeper into the playoffs this year.

The Mustangs boast a formidable roster, led by starting quarterback Tre Gamble. Key returners such as Alijah Parker (running back/safety), Zion McDonald (running back/wide receiver/defensive back), and Aaron Simon (offensive lineman) are expected to be both playmakers and leaders on and off the field. Their skill, versatility, and experience make them central to the team’s championship aspirations.

Known for their speed, athleticism, and relentless defense, the Mustangs are not just aiming to repeat as Pacific League champions—they’re setting their sights on making a serious run at the CIF title.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see them in action. John Muir will kick off the 2025 season at home against Bonita on Friday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m. With a packed stadium and a community eager to cheer them on, the Mustangs are ready to prove why they’re one of the most dangerous teams in the San Gabriel Valley.
