Pasadena High School Students Gain Inspiring Legal Insight at Occidental College

On Friday, February 6, nine students from Pasadena High School’s Law and Public Service (LPS) Pathway had the unique opportunity to attend a special event at Occidental College, accompanied by LPS teacher Mr. Greg Ohlson and Pasadena High School Principal Dr. Eric Barba. The event featured an intimate and interactive discussion with three of the nation’s most distinguished Latina jurists, offering students a rare chance to hear firsthand perspectives on leadership, public service, and the role of the courts in today’s society.

Moderated by Justice Kelli M. Evans of the California Supreme Court, the panel included Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor of the Supreme Court of the United States, California Supreme Court Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero, and Judge Mary Murguia of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Held in Thorne Hall on the Occidental College campus and sponsored by the CA Unity Bar, LA County Unity Bar, and Occidental College, the event was an inspiring experience that left a lasting impression on all who attended—truly a great day to be a Bulldog.
