Pasadena High School Welcomes Educator Erick Murillo

Pasadena High School is excited to welcome Erick Murillo as its new Spanish Teacher! Mr. Murillo is an outstanding educator who brings a passion for multilingual education, culturally responsive teaching, and helping students develop both language proficiency and a deeper appreciation for Hispanic culture.

Mr. Murillo most recently taught in the Dual Language Immersion Program at Durfee School, where he helped pioneer and develop the district’s first middle school dual immersion curriculum. He designed and taught rigorous courses in science, Spanish, and English Language Development while collaborating with colleagues to build a comprehensive instructional program focused on academic excellence and multilingualism. Prior to that, he taught Spanish at Los Altos High School—his alma mater—where he instructed multiple levels of Spanish, advised the Spanish Honor Society, and created engaging cultural learning experiences for students. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Spanish Literature and Linguistics from California State University, Fullerton, along with a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Spanish and a Bilingual Authorization.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Murillo has demonstrated a commitment to educational leadership by presenting at professional conferences, mentoring aspiring teachers, and promoting linguistic equity and culturally sustaining instructional practices. His dedication to student success, innovation, and inclusive learning environments will make him an incredible addition to Pasadena High School’s World Languages Department.
