Polytechnic School Summer Practices Halted

Since the end of the school year, Poly’s Athletics department had been working diligently towards the possibility of beginning summer practices with the anticipation that the practices—run in a safe and healthy way—would have provided the student-athletes emotional, mental, and physical health. However, due to the abrupt rise in COVID-19 case numbers in the last couple of weeks, the progress towards summer practices have been put to a halt. Poly will be unable to hold July practices out of an abundance of precaution for the health and safety of our community.

CIF is scheduled to make an announcement the week of July 20 in regards to the Fall season that should provide a better idea of what high school sports will look like moving forward into the 2020-21 season. The Athletics Department will revisit the possibility of practices at the end of the month. Until then, we will wait patiently and see where this pandemic takes us. For the high school student-athletes that were anticipating these summer practices, if virtual workouts are of interest to you, contact your coach for further discussion. Stay healthy, stay safe, and wear your masks!
