PUSD and Pasadena Playhouse Invite Students to Join the 2027 All Star Musical

Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) and the Pasadena Playhouse believe that making theater is for everyone, and that young people of all ages and skill levels can have their lives enriched by becoming theater-makers. The program is not limited to students with professional arts ambitions; instead, every young person can gain valuable skills through the experience of putting on a show. Theater encourages students to think creatively, solve problems, collaborate with new teammates, and articulate complex ideas while building confidence in their voices and bodies and strengthening their social-emotional and communication skills. Students also have the opportunity to build community with peers from other schools and work together to bring their creative vision to life.

The All Star Musical is a collaborative project involving students and staff from across PUSD’s high schools, bringing together some of the district’s best talent. Students participate in leading and supporting roles on stage, in the chorus and orchestra, and behind the scenes as stage crew members and as designers and builders of sets, props, and costumes. PUSD teachers and teaching artists in theater, music, dance, and visual arts direct, guide, and mentor the students, with additional in-kind mentorship support from Pasadena Playhouse. These unique productions showcase the visual and performing arts contributions of more than 200 PUSD students and are enjoyed by approximately 6,000 student and community audience members.
