Ramona Celebrates the 8th Annual Applicants Tea Event

This past Sunday, the sun shone brightly and soft breezes blew while Ramona’s campus came to life celebrating the 8th annual Applicants Tea event. Applicants and one guest (mom, dad, grandma, or special friend) arrived at Ramona and brought with them their laughter, their energy, and their hope for a better and brighter tomorrow.

Each year this event proves to be a fun-filled, unique and creative way to share what Ramona’s community is all about. This year proved to be no different. While adhering to safety guidelines with mask-wearing, social distancing, and temperature checks, this year’s theme “Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust” was fittingly appropriate.

The event was planned as a self-guided walking tour of the enchanted gardens of Ramona featuring creatively decorated mystical tables. Guests also met with Ramona Ambassadors and their Moms. All of whom were creatively dressed as Garden Fairies. Here the mutual conversation, sprinkled with a little pixie dust, was where relationships between the Ramona community and the guests developed.

As the guests arrived, they drove up Ramona’s entrance to find beautiful hanging decorations such as colorful butterflies and flowers. It seemed that in nearly every part of the campus you were greeted by fairies and gifted with delicious wrapped edibles such as freshly baked scones, rose decorated concha pastries, magical pretzel wands, Ramona decorated cookies, fairy dust cupcakes and so much more! Each table also offered guests themed gifts in the spirit of enjoying a magnificent journey throughout Ramona.

Special thanks to Veronica Puente-Smith ’79 and Veronica Fernandez ’00 for planning and preparing this event along with student ambassadors and their moms, Mrs. Jackie Quinones-Sienkowski, Sister Kathleen, Mrs. Halina Szymanski, Chef Francois Laborie, and student and parent volunteers who eloquently shared their love for Ramona and helped make this day a huge success!

This shared excitement carried over to the future tigers and is sure to grow during the next two weeks as they await the decision letters to be mailed.
