Safe and Active Adventures during Quarantine with Alverno’s Cross Country and Track Coach Grimstad

Quarantine and the pandemic hasn’t stopped Coach Grimstad from taking safe and active adventures. As the Cross Country and Track coach she is known for competing in triathlons. The quarantine has left many of us stir crazy being stuck at home and many people have turned to nature for a safe escape. Coach Grimstad and her husband, also a coach at Alverno, took adventuring into the outdoors to a new level, biking from Monrovia to Temecula!

Coach Grimstad shared, “We rode About 90 miles one way. I would definitely say we took the scenic route through genes all canyon all the way to Temecula. We took a couple days there riding around some of the adventure rides that have become popular these days. And we ate at so many different places along the way.”

About Alverno Heights Academy

Alverno Heights Academy is an all-girls, independent, progressive Catholic, college preparatory school dedicated to its mission of empowering each young woman to be exactly the person she wants to be. Located on the property of the former Barlow Estate in Sierra Madre, California, Alverno Heights Academy was founded in 1960 by the Sisters of St. Francis who sought to create an environment in the San Gabriel Valley where young women could become informed and knowledgeable persons. Later renamed Alverno High School and sponsored by the Immaculate Heart Community, Alverno’s program—academic, spiritual, aesthetic, social, and physical—has been shaped by the staff, trustees, and students. As Alverno Heights Academy once again, the school remains committed to its mission by encouraging each of their young women to be who they imagine.
