Sequoyah School Hosts Middle School League Debate Tournament

On Saturday, Sequoyah hosted a debate tournament for the middle school league. Out of 8 schools competing, Sequoyah placed 2nd in overall number of wins, and in % of wins!

• Laidy ‘28 took home the gavel for best speaker in the tournament, out of 144 participants. An amazing accomplishment!
• Ben ‘28, Laidy ‘28 and Gabe ‘28 placed 2nd out of 51 teams
• Zayla ‘29, Zola ‘28, and Jojo ‘28 placed 15th.

Sequoyah thanks all of the other debaters (some not pictured here) who supported each other, won, lost, learned, and made the day so great. The day saw a lot of teamwork, positive energy, and intelligent discourse, and are proud of all 8 Sequoyah squads that competed.

Sequoyah also thanks the judges and parent volunteers: Wiley ‘26, Evan Davis, Brett Webster, Liz Rappaport, Lyle Gamm, Tim Yoon, Karen Davis, Jenn Webster, Lily Kim, and Azin Samari.

A giant thanks to April Langford, Randy Clement, and Triple Beam Pizza for providing a feast for its great debaters.

More thanks to Eileen, Tiz, Roberto, and everyone in Facilities who made it happen. And last but not least, the school thanks Coach Chris and its high school student mentors!
