South Pasadena High School Winter Sports Teams Deliver Strong Performances

The winter sports season has been especially good for both SPHS girls and boys athletic teams. Four out of the five teams, including Girls Water Polo, Boys Soccer, and Boys/Girls Basketball, have qualified for the CIF-SS playoffs. South Pasadena High School will host four home CIF-SS first-round playoff matches this week.

Both the Boys and Girls Basketball teams have established remarkable records, with a combined 46-10 performance (Boys 22-6, Girls 24-4). This accomplishment stands as a significant milestone for the Tigers. Both basketball programs have clinched outright Rio Hondo League Championships in the same year, boasting a combined 19-1 record in the league. Notably, the Boys Basketball team’s league title marks a historic achievement. The last time the SPHS Boys Basketball Tigers accomplished this feat was in 1993.

SPUSD thanks the continuous support of its amazing coaches and student athletes. “Let’s keep celebrating the accomplishments of our dedicated student athletes by showing up to cheer them on at the upcoming CIF-SS home games this week!” Click here for more information about the schedules.
