SPHS Sports Medicine Students Provide Care for Athletes

During the week of April 20, 2026, the South Pasadena High School (SPHS) Sports Medicine Club hosted its final Athletic Recovery Week of the year, offering a valuable work-based learning opportunity while providing specialized care for SPHS spring athletes participating in softball, swimming, volleyball, basketball, and football.
Student clinicians demonstrated advanced recovery techniques designed to promote performance and wellness, including:
• PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching
• Myofascial release using foam rollers
• Percussive therapy using therapeutic devices
South Pasadena Unified School District (SPUSD) is incredibly proud of its Sports Medicine students, who led each session with impressive skill, professionalism, and dedication. Special thanks to SPHS CTE teacher Andre Zumaeta for his continued instruction, mentorship, and guidance.
