The High Point Legacy: Alumni Spotlight: Chris Tucker (Class of ’83)

My Brief Bio—

I’m one of five brothers who all attended High Point over the years. I was there from 4th to 8th grade and graduated in 1983. After graduating, it was off to high school at Flintridge Prep and then college at UCLA. There I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and, in 2001, graduated from Samra University of Oriental Medicine. I furthered my education with an internship in China, where I volunteered at a hospital in Beijing and worked with several modern masters of Chinese medicine. This experience in the Far East complemented my western background in physiological sciences.

Currently I’m an acupuncturist, practicing at Circulating Health in Monrovia, where l have been working for 20 years. In addition, I teach TaiQi and Qigong at senior and community centers in Monrovia, Duarte, and Pasadena.

My High Point Experience

During my four years at High Point, I made the best of friends. Many past friends and teachers have become family.

My Observations and Reflections—

I have not been back to the campus since graduating so I think it’s about time to get a few friends together for a visit and a campus tour. Before graduation I wrote a passage next to my photo in the yearbook. It said, “I realized I had to pick a path and pursue it in order to live a good and successful life.” High Point gave us the foundation to do just that. As the old, now-retired, HPA School Song said:

“Give us tools with which to learn, lessons we must know. To live a happy useful life and wiser ever grow.”

And so the path continues. Thanks, High Point!
