Two Maranatha Seniors Honored by Local Organization

Maranatha High School congratulates Makiah Redson ’23 and Ruby Knott ’23 for being selected to receive a $1,500 scholarship award from the Sierra Madre Woman’s Club.

In May, the club gathered to honor and present the scholarship awards to eight high school young ladies. Applicants were evaluated based on their scores for two essays: 1) a self-introduction that included their involvement in clubs, sports and activities, volunteerism, and hobbies; 2) an essay about how the scholarship will affect their educational plans. Unweighted GPA, AP classes, and letters of recommendation were also scored and considered.

Ruby will be attending the University of Oregon in the fall, majoring in Art Direction, and Makiah will be attending Art Center College of Design, majoring in Creative Direction. In a statement on the organization’s website, “Every applicant was outstanding scholastically and very deserving of a scholarship.”
