A Closeup Look at the Hispanic Influence on Pasadena and California Architecture

Published on Jan 5, 2022

Pasadena Heritage will host researcher and docent David Nufer as he examines “Hispanic Influence on Pasadena and California Architecture” in an online lecture on Thursday, January 6, starting at 7 p.m.

The lecture is part of Pasadena Heritage’s Architectural Legacy Tours series and will focus on how the Spanish/Hispanic/Latino architectural design vocabulary evolved over a thousand years, across four continents, as well as how it has flourished here in Pasadena.

Nufer will examine venerable examples of this architectural design, such as the San Gabriel Mission, Castle Green, Caltech campus, the Civic Center, and 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival houses designed by George Washington Smith, Wallace Neff, and many others.

He also studies more recent Hispanic-influenced projects, such as the Del Mar Gold Line Station.

Tickets for the Zoom lecture are $18 for Pasadena Heritage members and $21 for non-members.
