The Pasadena Bead and Design Show opens on Friday, January 7, at the Hilton Pasadena, with activities and shopping opportunities from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. daily, Friday to Sunday, January 9.
Guests can shop and buy direct from artisans and tradespeople at excellent prices – beads, art clothing, jewelry, gemstones, textiles, findings and embellishments; and the largest selection of handcrafted beads, art jewelry and gems.
Many products are being offered for the first time, and by the artisans themselves! These included an array of designer accessories such as felted hats, artwear, hand-dyed silks, hand-tooled leather, and eco-dyed and upcycled clothing.
The Pasadena Bead and Design Show will have over 30,000 square feet of exhibit space with about 300 exhibits. The exhibitors, who are carefully chosen by invitation and juried application, include both traditional and contemporary artisans, high-quality merchants, and wholesale suppliers.
Workshops are offered daily, between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., by beadmakers and artisans, offering step-by-step instruction for all skill levels,and most include tools and materials. Topics and projects include jewelry design, polymer clay, wirework, crystal setting, bead making, art clay silver, hand-knotting, mixed media, chainmaille, and enameling.
The Hilton also offers special room and parking rates for Bead and Design Show participants.
Admission is $8 online or $10 at the door, good for all three days. This event is open to the public, with both wholesale and retail pricing. There is no admission charge for youths 17 and under.
