Blue skies, ocean breezes, swaying palm trees, and the vast blue Pacific are just some of the things that await visitors to Santa Barbara. Mykonos. The name conjures up visions of white stucco walls, with red-tiled roofs and multi-tiered patios. You won’t need to travel to Greece to have your own piece of the island. It’s as close as Santa Barbara if you choose to stay at the Mykonos vacation villa through InvitedHome.
Located in Santa Barbara’s downtown waterfront district, Mykonos is a short walk to the beach and Stearns Wharf, with all its restaurants and shops. State Street is also close by and if you choose to take the train, the station is just a hop, skip, and a jump away.
But getting back to the home. Mykonos sleeps four people in its two spacious bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bath and entertainment center. The master bedroom also has a charming patio to enjoy your morning coffee.
Upstairs is the living area with a large airy kitchen, dining table and living room. There is another patio off the kitchen which has a gas grill. I tried that grill myself when I cooked a couple of tri tip steaks to perfection. Since there is no a/c, all the rooms have ceiling fans and opening the doors on either side of the rooms gives you a nice cross-breeze, cooling the place off nicely.
Off the patio on the second level are the stairs to the roof-top living area. What a wonderful space! You can see for miles up there! There’s a fireplace and seating area with a couch and chairs, but my favorite spot was on the bar stools grouped around a table and umbrella. When I was sitting there I could see the ocean framed by palm trees or the golden hills surrounding Santa Barbara. What a treat!
We spent our days either on that roof-top sanctuary or walking around enjoying the sights and sounds of Santa Barbara. We did not take our car out of our private garage the entire trip. If we had wanted, there were two bicycles for our use.
Another fun feature of our dream villa was the dumbwaiter. Since the space is on many levels you can load your groceries or what-not in the dumbwaiter and have it taken to any floor. It’s a great time saver and back saver too.
If you have any problems or questions during your stay you can rest assured that the answer is just a phone call or text away. Upon our arrival we had a little trouble opening the front door. One text to Kim, our guest experience specialist and we had the needed information within minutes.
Like a hotel, InvitedHome provides you with the basic necessities: toilet paper, paper towels, travel size bath amenities, dish soap/detergent, linens for all beds and bath towels for each guest. Unlike a hotel, there is not daily maid service, so if you are going for an extended stay you may want to bring some provisions. Also I found that if you check the cupboards you’ll probably find things like sugar, coffee filters and basic spices.
