Altadena Guild Annual May Home Tour A Record Success

Published on Jun 19, 2022

The Altadena Guild’s recent Home & Garden Tour, Festival de Mendocino Lane, enjoyed record crowds and record revenue to benefit Huntington Health and Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI).

The weather was magnificent as over 1200 guests strolled on this iconic Altadena street and enjoyed touring four magnificent homes and exquisite gardens.   Guild President, Karen Skinner-Twomey remarked, “You could see how happy everyone was to be back at this special community event,” The Guild is indebted to everyone who attended and thanks the four wonderful homeowners for opening their gorgeous residences and gardens for our community to enjoy.”

Guests enjoyed delicious Argentinian food while listening to live music. Boutique vendors and classic cars also added to the day’s ambiance. New this year were a variety of booths for community organization to provide information about their services.

Co-Chairs Elaine Bauer and Patricia Ostiller report that the event raised an unprecedented $140,000. Net proceeds will allow the Guild to complete its final pledge payment under its $100,000 multi-year commitment to the hospital’s Heart & Vascular Center, continue its support of the hospital’s employee and student scholarship programs, as well as support other hospital areas. Proceeds will also support HMRI’s summer undergraduate research fellowship, giving students a hands-on laboratory research experience and mentorship from HMRI’s research faculty.

The Guild was founded in 1951 and hosts events each year which benefit HMRI and Huntington Health. The Guild welcomes new members; individuals interested in joining the Guild should send an email to altadenaguild@gmail.com
