Angela Davis Headlines at Tuesday’s Pasadena Glendale YWCA Racial Justice Breakfast

YWCA Glendale and Pasadena will feature political activist, philosopher, academic, scholar, and author Angela Y. Davis as keynote speaker at the annual Women for Racial Justice Breakfast on Tuesday, October 11, 9 a.m. at the Pasadena Hilton.

Now in its 20th year, the annual breakfast brings together a diverse group of people, especially those who work and live in the communities where the YWCA serves, to assist with learning and bring a call to action to advance racial justice.

The breakfast raises funds to support YWCA Glendale and Pasadena’s Girls’ Empowerment Programs, including Camp Rosie, Girls Circle and TechGYRLS.

“This year’s breakfast continues our rich tradition and legacy as we focus on the theme of ‘Making the Improbable, Possible,’” Tara Peterson, YWCA Glendale and Pasadena CEO, said.

The event will also feature the 2022 honorees for significant achievements in eliminating racism and empowering women. They are Angela Aguirre, poet, author, and activist; Dr. Giovanna Brasfield, CEO and Principal Consultant at Brasfield & Associates; Connie Chung Joe, CEO of Asian Americans Advancing Justice in Los Angeles; and Surina Khan, CEO of the Women’s Foundation of California.

KTLA’s Emmy Award-winning news anchor Cher Calvin will be emceeing the event.
