ArtCenter Announces Virtual Car Classic; Teaser Coming Sunday

Published on Oct 23, 2020

ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena is going virtual this year with its annual Car Classic, where rare automobiles, motorcycles and stunning concept cars representing seven decades of ArtCenter’s influence in transportation design are on display.

Car Classic during the past few years has been a culminating event for Connect Week Pasadena, a series of events organized by Innovate Pasadena to highlight all the cutting edge tech, design, science and business happening in the City.

On Sunday, October 25, ArtCenter will host a briefing to announce the details of a brand-new, virtual Car Classic experience that will connect students, faculty, alumni, notable designers and art aficionados with the larger community of car collectors and automotive enthusiasts for a celebration of the beauty, wonder and technical achievements in the field of transportation design.

An ArtCenter statement said the year-long series of engagements will be launched to bring the annual Car Classic event to attendees from across the globe. Through a series of live chats and online features, fans of the event will still be able to immerse themselves in stunning examples of design, hear fascinating discussions by top designers, learn about ArtCenter’s 90-year legacy and see the exciting work of  ArtCenter’s talented students.

Sunday’s virtual Car Classic briefing begins with an online conversation among event organizers Stewart Reed and Jay Sanders with regular emcees Barry Meguiar, Dave Kunz and Ed Justice, Jr. as well as some special guests who will provide a preview for the new year-long program.

The event will be live on Zoom at 1 p.m. Sunday. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions and share suggestions for the year-long series.
