Mark your calendars for the entire week starting Saturday, Sept. 16, when Hello, You’re Welcome —Pasadena’s newest donut and coffee shop — hosts a grand opening celebration week, featuring meet-and-greets, giveaways, DJ spinning old vinyl, and delectable treats, specialty coffee, and more through the 22nd.
Hello, You’re Welcome is a health-conscious donut shop founded by award-winning Chef Leah Delyte Di Bernardo opening its doors Saturday in Pasadena’s Playhouse Village. It’s located on Colorado Boulevard at Los Robles Avenue.
Dedicated to creating donuts and baked goods that are both delicious and nourishing, the shop offers five different donut lines that cater to all eaters, including those who are vegan, sugar-free, gluten-free, keto, or following a Paleo diet.
“That’s why we have made it our mission to create donuts and baked goods that not only taste amazing but also provide a serving of good stuff for both the body and the mind,” said a Hello, You’re Welcome statement. “We don’t believe in sacrificing flavor or customer satisfaction at the altar of health and wellness. Honestly, nor should anyone.”
All of the ingredients used in the shop’s products are sourced sustainably from local Southern California eco-friendly growers, the statement added.
The event on Saturday will also provide an opportunity to meet Roast House Coffee (RHC) founder and Good Food award-winning chef Deborah Di Bernardo. All of Hello, You’re Welcome’s coffee comes from RHC.
“Roast House Coffee shares our understanding of the challenges faced by the coffee industry, such as the use of harmful chemicals, lack of equity, and deforestation driven by profit motives in many coffee terroirs,” the statement continued. “In line with our genuine concern, RHC goes beyond the ‘basic sustainable statement’ often greenwashed and used by other ‘specialty coffee’ companies.
Roast House Coffee was founded with a mission to make the coffee industry friendly to the environment and sustainable. The founder has shared the stage with culinary icon Alice Waters and has been honored with two prestigious Good Food awards. As a champion of good, clean, and fair coffee, Deborah Di Bernardo is dedicated to supporting farmers and workers’ rights, the RHC website says.
Like RHC, Hello, You’re Welcome is also committed to caring deeply about the environment and the local community, as well as the well-being of their work family.
“We strive to create an environment that fosters a sense of community and supports the health of our planet,” the shop’s statement said. “From sourcing sustainable ingredients, working with small SoCal growers to implementing eco-friendly practices, we are committed to making a positive impact on both our patrons and the world around us.”
The grand opening event will be held at 445 East Colorado Blvd. from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 16.
