Bruins Back in the Rose Bowl Saturday to Face Colorado Buffaloes

The UCLA Bruins are home in the Rose Bowl Saturday where they will host the University of Colorado Boulder Buffaloes, whose head coach Karl Dorrell was UCLA’s head coach from 2003 to 2007 and before that played for UCLA from 1982 to 1986. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

The game will be televised by the Pac-12 Network and the UCLA Learfield Radio Network will cover the radio broadcast, which will also be heard on Sirius XM and the Varsity App.

UCLA owns an 11-5 overall advantage in the series with the Buffs. The teams have taken turns by winning home games in the series over the past six meetings. The Bruins hold a 5-1 edge in games played at the Rose Bowl. Colorado won last year’s battle in Boulder, 48-42, in Dorrell’s first game as head coach. UCLA’s last series win came in 2019, 31-14, at the Rose Bowl.

On the ground, UCLA has racked up a 1,795-to-1,049 rushing yards edge on opponents in 2021. The Bruins average 4.6 yards per rush while the Buffs are at 3.8.

Per game, UCLA is at 199.4, 29th nationally, while the Buffs are at 116.6, 19th nationally in rush defense.

For locals not attending, expect some noise and traffic.

There will be a brief use of pyrotechnics at one hour prior to the start of the game (at 4:30 p.m.) and at 30 minutes prior to kickoff (5:00 p.m.) as well as when the team runs onto the field and during the National Anthem.

Not to mention a 15-second air horn blown simultaneously to the pyrotechnics, at 4:30 and 5:00 p.m., too.

The Recreational Loop around the Rose Bowl will be closed Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Equestrian Trail will remain open at all times.
