Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge opens its Camellia Collection Tours on Saturday, Jan. 21, a walking tour between 11 a.m. and 12 noon where visitors can learn about Descanso’s historic camellia collections, plus little-known stories behind many of the camellias currently in bloom.
The Gardens’ iconic camellia collection is usually at its peak blooming season this time of the year, when visitors can enjoy crafting, walks and other activities among these blooming winter beauties.
In the past, camellia experts from the Southern California Camellia Society have lead the tour as they explain the process of growing camellias.
The tour is included in the price of admission or with membership. General admission is $15. Seniors and students with ID pay $11 each. Children between 5 and 12 pay $5, and Descanso members and children under 5 are admitted free of charge.
The tour meets in the Visitor Center courtyard at Descanso Gardens, located at 1418 Descanso Drive in La Cañada Flintridge.
