The Pasadena Public Library is celebrating National Poetry Month this April with a variety of opportunities to hear, write, and engage with poetry.
The Academy of American Poets started National Poetry Month in April 1996 to celebrate poetry’s ability to capture and enrich our daily lives.
Over the years, it has become a well-loved literary celebration. Readers, students, teachers, librarians, booksellers, and others spend April marking poetry’s significance in our lives. This April, celebrate the power of poetry with the Pasadena Public Library at any one of our free community events.

Blackout Poetry
Thursday, April 13, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m., Santa Catalina Branch Library, 999 E. Washington Blvd.
Create poetry using old magazine, book or newspaper pages and blacking out or redacting words, leaving behind a unique poem. No artistic or poetic experience is necessary! For ages 5+.

Tim DeRoche and Daniel Gonzalez: Tales of Whimsy, Verses of Woe

Join 2019 Summer One City, One Story author Tim DeRoche and illustrator Daniel González for a poetry centered discussion, featuring their book Tales of Whimsy, Verse of Woe. A collection sure to delight anyone who loves Lemony Snicket or Shel Silverstein. Following the presentation there will be a question-and-answer session, and book sale and signing.
