Celebrate the Season With Hill Avenue Library’s ‘Holiday Special’

Published on Dec 18, 2022

Pasadena’s Hill Avenue Branch Library is celebrating the winter holidays this year with a Holiday Special, a virtual celebration on Zoom featuring a cozy evening of songs, crafting, and reading by the fireplace this Tuesday, Dec. 20, 7 to 8 p.m.

Listed among Pasadena’s Cultural Heritage Landmarks, the Hill Avenue Library is the oldest building in the Pasadena Public Library system. The building was designed by Marston, Van Pelt and Maybury, and opened May 6, 1925. The City of Pasadena has maintained the building’s historical architecture throughout the years.

Located directly across the street from Pasadena City College, Hill Avenue Branch library is home to the system’s Asian language collection, featuring books, newspapers and magazines, as well as a fiction and non-fiction collection for adults and children, in Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese.

Hill Avenue Branch is also home to Pasadena Grows, a seed-lending program where patrons can borrow some seeds, grow something wonderful, and harvest seeds to return. The library has a large collection of vegetable, fruit, herbs and native plant seeds.
