Melodia Mariposa will debut its inaugural Holiday Concert at the Altadena Town and Country Club on Wednesday, Dec. 21, starting at 6 p.m.
“Nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, this elegant venue offers a breathtaking view and a unique setting for our Music and Dining holiday experience,” Melodia Mariposa said in an announcement of the event.
The Holiday Concert will feature winter-inspired favorites and your beloved holiday traditions from Melodia Mariposa’s all-star orchestra, led by esteemed, three-time Tony Awards nominee Conductor Larry Blank, and world-renowned soloists Michele Zukovsky, principal clarinetist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 54 years.
The concert will also feature Pasadena native Lisa Vroman, actress, vocalist, Broadway star and recipient of the Theatre Critics’ Awards for the role of Christine Daaé in “Phantom of the Opera” in a record-breaking run in San Francisco.
Melodia Mariposa is a new music organization that reflects the irrepressibly positive outlook of concert violinist Irina Voloshina, the group’s founder and music director.
Known around the globe for her exquisite skill, Irina Voloshina has been a soloist and concertmaster for countless symphony orchestras, and has worked with such infamous conductors as John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, and Hans Zimmer, to name a few.
The evening starts with a Pre-concert Reception of hors d’oeuvres and a no-host bar at 6 p.m., followed by the Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. in the Victorian Ballroom.
The program will have something for all ages and musical tastes, starting with Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas,” and Tchaikovsky’s “Trepak” from “The Nutcracker.”
Holiday Concert ends around 8:30 pm with a Champagne Toast.
