Westminster Presbyterian Church
Sunday Dec. 26th, we gather for a Service of Lessons and Carols.
Rev. Dr. Twining Campbell welcomes the community, both present and online, to worship and Dr. Imre Szilas plays the Prelude: “In Dulci Jubilo” by Johann Michael Bach.
Following the Westminster chimes, Pastor Twine leads the community in the Call to Worship and we join in singing the first and fourth stanza of Hymn No. 22: “Angels, from the Realms of Glory.”
Pastor Twine then shares the Announcements, Prayer concerns and leads the congregation in prayer. As we have gotten used to a new “normal,” we pass the peace by Greeting Each Other in Place.
Imre Szilas plays the Offertory Anthem, “Christmas Medley” arranged by Imre Szilas based on “What Child Is This” and “Good King Wenceslas.” After the Prayer of Dedication we join in the Lord’s Prayer.
As we begin the Service of Lessons and Carols we begin with a brief prayer then there are nine readings with Carols following each lesson. The singers for this section include: Riley, Fletcher and Ian Paddock, Norm Haynes, Quinn Davis, and Diana Jeong and Lee Powers. After the last carol, the Lessons and Carols close with a prayer.
The service closes as we sing the first stanza of Hymn No. 63: “As With Gladness Men of Old,” Then Pastor Martha offers the Charge and Benediction. The Postlude: Carillon on “All Ye Shepherds” is by Gordon Young and is played by Imre Szilas, on the Westminster pipe organ.
Our services are directed by Robert Smith, filmed by Amy Szilas, with sound by Fletcher Paddock and are available on our webpage( and our Facebook and YouTube pages (Westminster Presbytrian Church, Pasadena, CA).
