Cook for a Cause Will Improve Culinary Skills, While Supporting Union Station Homeless Services

STAFF REPORT
Published on May 7, 2021

Union Station Homeless Services and The Gourmandise School are partnering to bring you “Cook for a Cause,” an online event on the evening of Wednesday, May 12, where those in the community who have an inclination towards cooking and serving the community can learn from Chef May Hennemann from The Gourmandise School.

Between 6 and 8 p.m., Chef May will teach an intimate cooking class with lessons on how to make Gnocchi with Brown Butter and Sage, Salad with Dill Vinaigrette, and Olive Oil Cake.

While cooking, you’ll also hear the latest updates from Union Station Homeless Services.

With a General Admission ticket, you’ll get a link to the Zoom event for your entire household and a list of ingredients to purchase. This recipe makes enough for two servings and it can be doubled if necessary. No special kitchen equipment is required.

A VIP Admission includes everything in the General Admission ticket, as well as a custom “Cook for a Cause” rubber spatula. Additionally, Union Station will source the ingredients for you and deliver them to your home the day before the event, as long as you live within a 15-mile radius of Union Station’s Administration Office.

If you live outside of the delivery radius, you can pick up your ingredients box from Union Station on the day of the event. Union Station Homeless Services is at 825 E. Orange Grove Blvd.

General Admission is $35, and VIP Admission is $125.
