Cosmic Cocktail Hour with Carnegie Observatories March 3 will Feature Gravitational Waves, Black Holes and Dark Matter

Dr. John Mulchaey, director of Carnegie Observatories, will make a down-to-earth presentation on Zoom titled “Gravitational Waves, Black Holes, Dark Matter and Other Puzzles” Wednesday, March 3, at 4 p.m., sponsored by the Pasadena Senior Center.

Gravitational waves and black holes are stunning evidence of the cataclysmic forces that have shaped our universe. The elusive concept known as dark matter constitutes 95 percent of the universe, but nobody knows what it is made of.

The cost is only $7 for members of the Pasadena Senior Center and $10 for nonmembers 50 and older. Residency in Pasadena is not required.

The center, at 85 E. Holly St., is an independent, donor-supported nonprofit organization that has been serving older adults for more than 60 years. During the pandemic, doors are open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for social services and other programs and services for older adults in need.
