Fred Claire, who spent 30 years with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ front office advancing from publicity director to Executive Vice President and general manager, will speak about his Dodger career and life journey from his book “My 30 Years in Dodger Blue” and Tim Madigan’s book “Extra Innings: Fred Claire’s Journey to City of Hope and Finding a World Championship Team.”
The event is virtual on Tuesday, July 26, 5 to 6 p.m. on Zoom.
Claire joined the Dodgers in 1969 and proved to be an award-winning executive at every stage of his career. He was directing the team’s marketing efforts when the Dodgers first hit the three-million mark in attendance and established a period of record-setting attendance figures. He was instrumental in creating the branding that became to be known as “Dodger Blue” and the subsequent “Think Blue” campaign.
Since retiring from the Dodgers in 1998, Claire has maintained an active schedule as an educator, a founding partner and currently chairman of the sports analytics company Scoutables and as a contributor to MLB.com, in addition to an on-going civic involvement.
The event, sponsored by the Pasadena Public Library, is virtual on Tuesday, July 26, 5 to 6 p.m., on Zoom.
Attendance at the virtual event is free.
