“Easter in Art” at Laemmle’s Culture Vulture Series This Week

Published on Apr 9, 2022

Laemmle’s Playhouse 7 in Pasadena is showing “Easter in Art,” a film that explores the different ways artists have depicted the Easter story through the ages, on Tuesday, April 12, at 1 p.m.

The film showing is part of Laemmle’s 2022 First Quarter Culture Vulture Series, which features films about art and artists, opera, dance, stage, classical music and more on Mondays and Tuesdays.

From the triumphant to the savage, the ethereal to the tactile, some of western civilization’s greatest artworks focus on the pivotal moment of Christ’s death and resurrection, which has dominated western culture for the past 2,000 years. It is perhaps the most significant historical event of all time, as recounted by the gospels and as depicted by the greatest artists in history.

Shot on location in Jerusalem, the United States and throughout Europe, “Easter in Art” tells the Easter story as depicted in art, from the time of the early Christians to the present day.

Laemmle’s 2022 First Quarter Culture Vulture Series is your chance to see beautifully filmed productions of live performance art from around the globe, broaden your horizons, and expand your mind.

Tickets are $15. To purchase tickets, visit www.laemmle.com/film/easter-art?date=2022-04-12.
