Enjoy Family Friday Outdoor Movie Nights at the Beautiful Huntington Gardens

Published on Jul 28, 2021

The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens will start “Family Fridays: Movie Nights at The Huntington” next month, offering the magic of the movies with three outdoor movie nights in August, September, and October.

On August 13, Family Fridays will show “Moana,” by Disney Animation Studios, where an adventurous teenager sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana, voiced by Auli’i Cravalho, meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, voiced by Dwayne Johnson, and convinces him to join her on the voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and live entertainment, provided by Masanga Marimba, begins at 7 p.m. The movie starts at 8 p.m. Each family-friendly event also includes a hands-on children’s activity.

Families can bring a picnic or purchase food and concessions from Movie Night vendors. No outside alcohol is permitted.

Family Fridays take place on the Brown Lawn in front of the Virginia Steele Scott Galleries of American Art.

Other upcoming movies are “A Bug’s Life” on September 10, and “Coco” on October 8.

All gardens and galleries will be closed during Family Fridays. Free parking is allowed in the main parking lot.
