Published on Feb 18, 2022

The Caltech Wind Orchestra, directed by Dr. Glenn D. Price, presents two outdoor concerts on Sunday, Feb. 20, at the Red Door Cafe Patio on the Caltech campus.

Each concert – at 1:30 p.m. and at 3 p.m. – will be no more than one hour long, and will feature the same program. Featured will be the Woodwind Choir, Brass Choir and Percussion Ensemble performing works by Dvorak, Gorb, Lewandowski, Lauridsen and more.

Admission is free and no tickets are required. Social distancing and masks are required.

The Caltech Wind Orchestra – officially called the Caltech-Occidental Wind Orchestra – is comprised of select performers of wind and percussion instruments drawn from the undergraduate and graduate student population at Caltech and Occidental College, plus faculty, alumni, staff and community members from Caltech, and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories (JPL).

Currently numbering at approximately 80 musicians, this group rehearses once per week and performs three programs of repertoire per academic year. The repertoire is selected from the finest traditional and contemporary music from around the world, and regularly features world premieres and internationally renowned soloists.

Artists who have performed with the Wind Orchestra include David Shifrin and Eddie Daniels on clarinet, Allan Vogel on oboe; Anthony Plog, Allen Vizzutti, and Wayne Bergeron on trumpet; and tuba soloist Jim Self.
