On Thanksgiving Thursday, the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena will welcome thousands of participants for its fun and meaningful sixth annual Turkey Trot. The beloved Thanksgiving Day tradition is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and invites runners, walkers, skippers, and jumpers to traverse the 5K recreational loop at ‘America’s Stadium’ and enjoy the holiday in a special way.

The Rose Bowl Turkey Trot not only offers a day of festive family fun but also contributes to a great cause. All entry fees for the 2023 Trot are fully tax-deductible, with proceeds going directly to the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, a recognized nonprofit.

The Foundation’s mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance the historic Rose Bowl Stadium, ensuring its future within the Arroyo Seco through private funding to support improvements within the venue and its surrounding areas, including educational, community, and capital enhancements.

Since its inception in 2018, the Rose Bowl Turkey Trot has steadily grown in popularity and impact. The event has tripled its participant count and expanded its activities to create a truly family-friendly atmosphere, complete with photo opportunities, a photo booth, chalkboards, and music for all ages.

For the 2023 Trot, participants can anticipate even more photo opportunities along the route, as well as sponsor activations from Amazon Fresh and Roll-Em-Up Taquitos near the finish line. Each participant will receive a Rose Bowl Turkey Trot branded medal as a token of their involvement in this festive, philanthropic event.

This year, the event expects to host approximately 4,000 participants of all ages, including four-legged friends as it is a dog-friendly affair. Registration is available online at with options for free registration for kids aged 9 and under, $30 for youth aged 10-17, and $35 for adults. Students from Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) can also register for free by contacting their respective schools for registration links.

In addition to supporting the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, the 2023 Turkey Trot will collect donations on behalf of the Pasadena Unified School District. The funds raised will benefit student athletics at four PUSD high schools: Blair, John Muir Early College Magnet, Marshall Fundamental, and Pasadena High School. These schools offer competitive athletics in over 30 sports, including basketball, tennis, water polo, volleyball, track and field, soccer, football, softball, baseball, cheer, cross country, wrestling, golf, swimming, and badminton.

The proceeds from the Turkey Trot will specifically contribute to emergency response equipment and sports physicals for these student athletes. Donations can be made during race registration or online by clicking here.
