A vibrant community event in Pasadena Friday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Plaza is set to light up the first day of the 2023 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, a two-day event featuring 14 Grade I races.

The Pasadena Fan Fest will blast off at 7 p.m. with a live musical performance by 80’s cover band The Spazmatics.

Drew Fleming, President and CEO of Breeders’ Cup Limited, expressed his delight.

“We are very pleased to provide our fans and the local community with an opportunity to come together and enjoy a fun night out at Pasadena Fan Fest.”

The City of Pasadena is always actively involved whenever the Breeders Cup returns to Santa Anita Park, according to Anna Yan, communications manager at the Pasadena Center Operating Company.

Many of the Breeders Cup participants will be staying at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena, which also hosts several events related to the Breeders Cup.

Yan said, “It creates a fun night out in Pasadena where the tourists are able to intermingle with much of the community who are attending the Fest.”

She added that people from all over the United States have been eagerly looking forward to racing events.

“The Breeder’s Cup is a very fashionable event. There’s specific attire that you’re supposed to show up with at the Breeder’s Cup,” she said.

For those visiting for the Breeders Cup, Pasadena has much to offer.

Yan suggests visiting the city’s beautiful botanical gardens, including Descanso Gardens up north, and the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, which recently opened a new exhibit.

And of course, historic Old Pasadena is a must-visit for people to shop, dine, and enjoy the nightlife.

Presented by PNC Bank and in collaboration with the Breeders’ Cup and Pasadena Convention & Visitors Bureau, this vibrant event promises an unforgettable evening of entertainment, local flavor, and signature cocktails.

Beginning at $20 for general admission and ranging up to $60 for top seating, all tickets provide access to live entertainment, participating food trucks, cash bars, and more.
