Guests Embraced the Western Spirit at Young & Healthy’s Boot Scootin’ Ball

On Saturday, September 30 at the Pasadena Masonic Temple cowboys and cowgirls gathered together for the Boot Scootin’ Ball benefiting Young & Healthy Pasadena. The evening was filled with the sizzling sounds and enticing aromas of barbecue and the rhythmic steps of line dancing echoing through the hall, igniting the spark of the wild west in everyone present.

In the midst of the celebration, hearts were warmed as Young & Healthy honored Nick Howell, the recipient of the J. Donald Thomas award. A Pasadena native, Nick’s journey with Young & Healthy was kindled by his wife Caroline’s affiliation with the Pasadena Children’s Guild. With a career spanning over thirty years in healthcare, including roles at Accenture and UnitedHealth Group, Nick has devoted his life to serving health insurers and care delivery systems.

Throughout his career, Nick was a passionate advocate against the human impact of limited access to healthcare and coverage. It’s in this advocacy that his path intertwined with Young & Healthy, serving on the board for six years and offering his strategic insights as the Chair of the Finance Committee for four years.

A paddle pledge and the spin of the Wagon Wheel of Fortune was an exciting part of the evening. Every spin and pledge fueled the lifeline of support that Young & Healthy extends to the uninsured and underserved children and their families in the greater Pasadena area.

Through prevention, education, family support, and access to healthcare services, Young & Healthy protects and improves the physical and mental health of uninsured and underinsured children and their families in the greater Pasadena area.
