Harmonious Delights Await at Pasadena Community Orchestra’s 41st Season Opener

The stage is set, the instruments are tuned, and the Pasadena Community Orchestra (PCO) is prepared to kick off its remarkable 41st season. On Friday, November 10, 2023, the First Church of the Nazarene in East Pasadena will come alive with the enchanting sounds of classical music, and you’re invited.

From 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the PCO will serenade the audience with a carefully curated selection of works by renowned composers. The night begins with Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Procession of the Nobles,” a piece celebrated for its vibrancy and vivid orchestration, serving as the orchestral introduction to Act II of the opera “Mlada.” Be swept away by the energy and color of this captivating composition.

Following this grand overture, the orchestra will take you on a musical journey with Offenbach’s enchanting Intermezzo and Barcarolle from “The Tales of Hoffmann.” These melodies will transport you to a world of romanticism and fantasy.

The evening’s musical tapestry continues with Massenet’s Suite No. 4 “Scènes Pittoresques,” a collection of picturesque scenes brought to life through the orchestra’s evocative performance. You’ll also be treated to Mascagni’s Intermezzo from the opera “Cavalleria Rusticana,” a piece that exudes the passionate and dramatic essence of Italian opera.

As the concert reaches its grand finale, the PCO will deliver Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite” (1919 version), a masterpiece of 20th-century music that promises a captivating and enchanting conclusion to this musical journey.
