Huntington Hospital in Pasadena is hosting a virtual event on Saturday, October 17, starting at 10 a.m., to explain the recent advances in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

The event will also cover medications and surgery for “essential tremor,” which refer to all types of nervous system (neurological) disorders that cause involuntary and rhythmic shaking occurring mostly in the hands.

The panel of experts leading the webinar are in the neurology and neurosurgery fields. Participants will also have an opportunity to hear from a patient living with the movement disorder, and how they are taking steps to improve their quality of life.

Jennifer Birch, a nurse practitioner, will provide an overview on the surgery experience, including patient followup and programming.

Dr. Tyler Cheung, a neurologist, will speak on the medications that mitigate symptoms of movement disorders.

Dr. Igor Fineman, a neurosurgeon, will discuss surgery options including Deep Brain Stimulation or DBS.

This webinar is free to attend but RSVP is requested. To RSVP, email movementdisorders2020@gmail.com. Instructions on how to access the virtual event will be sent to your email address.
