Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair Wraps Up In Old Pasadena Sunday Afternoon

Published on Apr 29, 2023

Sunday is the last day for the Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair in Central Park, open from10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This weekend-long event is a celebration of handmade artistry, community spirit, and family-friendly shopping experiences, featuring a remarkable gathering of over 200 talented artisans showcasing their wares in beautifully curated booths.

You can shop with over 200 local makers who focus on handmade artistry. From fashion-forward socks and wildflower seed balls to ube cinnamon rolls and tufted wall art, there is a wide variety of unique items on offer that cater to different tastes and preferences.

In addition to the artisans, young talent from the Pasadena Unified School District’s Visual Arts and Design Academy (VADA) and Pasadena Rose High School also showcased their work. The organizers partnered with PUSD and offered $5 gift cards to the first 100 faculty members or students with a PUSD ID, promoting the importance of supporting and nurturing young artists in the community.

Visitors can explore their creativity, support local artists, and connect with others who share their interests.

Founded in 2014 by friends Sara Diederich and Melissa Kohout, the fair provides a unique and diverse selection of handmade products that are not typically found in commercial stores. It also offers an opportunity to support local artists and makers by purchasing their creations directly, fostering a sense of community where people can connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for art and creativity.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the fair’s organizers have taken the opportunity to expand their online presence, creating an online marketplace that has actually increased their reach. The fair now operates in four cities across the United States, including Burbank, Denver, Minneapolis, and Pasadena.

Using the Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair website, www.jackalopeartfair.com, attendees can pre-plan their shopping online and view all participating artisans while learning more about this unique event.
