The final free public tour of the season at Tournament House takes place Thursday, August 28, at 2 p.m., offering a rare glimpse inside the Italian Renaissance mansion that serves as headquarters for the Rose Parade.

Located at 391 S. Orange Grove Boulevard in Pasadena, the mansion stands as one of the last surviving estates from Pasadena’s early 20th-century “Millionaire’s Row.”

The 1.5-hour tour accommodates up to 80 participants with no admission fee, though spaces fill quickly.

Chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. purchased the property in 1914 for $170,000.

Designed by architect G. Lawrence Stimson, construction stretched from 1906 to 1914, delayed by the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

Following Ada Wrigley’s death in 1958, the family donated the property to Pasadena with the stipulation it serve as Tournament headquarters.

Since 1959, the mansion has functioned as the official headquarters for the Tournament of Roses Association.

“The property is a city park, so people are welcome to come to take photos and walk through the gardens,” said Amy Wainscott, Tournament of Roses Association president.

The association comprises 935 volunteer “White Suiters” who contribute approximately 80,000 hours annually to produce the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game.

The surrounding 4.5-acre Wrigley Gardens include more than 1,500 varieties of roses, camellias, and seasonal annuals.

Heritage Committee docents receive specialized training covering architecture, parade history, and Wrigley family anecdotes.

“Tournament House Tour” will run on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. Tournament House, 391 S. Orange Grove Boulevard, Pasadena. For more call 626-449-4100 or visit https://www.visitpasadena.com/events/wrigley-mansion-house-tour/. Tickets: Free admission.
