Dr. Michelle Herczog, EdD, the History-Social Science Consultant for the Los Angeles County Office of Education, will discuss the status and the future of “Educating for American Democracy” on Thursday, September 9, during the League of Women Voters-Pasadena Area’s Thursday with the League, a free webinar on Zoom, starting at 10 a.m.

She will discuss how Southern Californians can equip students with historic understanding and civic skills, and how to inspire them to become involved with their constitutional democracy and help sustain the republic.

Dr. Herczog is involved with award-winning school and district programs at the LA County Office of Education, serving 80 school districts across the county. Her years of leadership at the local, state, and national levels uniquely position her to address the challenges our schools face for preparing students to participate fully in self-government.

She currently serves on the “Power of Democracy” Steering Committee led by California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye and completed service on the California Task Force on K-12 Civic Learning led by the Chief Justice and California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson.

Dr. Herczog received her Doctoral Degree in Education at UCLA, her MA in Education at CSU Northridge, and her BA in History at UCLA.
