Local Gardens Host Exclusive End-of-Summer Celebration With Live Music and Artisan Market

Three musical acts, local artisans and guided tours highlight evening event for members and residents

Descanso Gardens will host its End of Summer Celebration on Friday, September 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., featuring live music throughout the gardens, a makers’ market, and hands-on activities.

“Join us for an exclusive evening in the gardens as we celebrate the end of another fantastic summer!” organizers announced for the event exclusively available to Descanso Gardens members and La Cañada Flintridge residents.

The celebration features three concurrent musical performances. The La Cañada High School Quartet will perform classical selections on the Boddy House patio from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Mateo Arce Trio will present jazz sets in the Rose Garden pavilion at 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Brazilian choro musician Ted Falcon will perform in the Amphitheater at 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A makers’ market featuring local artisans will take place at Center Circle. Guided tours of the Ruth Borun Nursery & Propagation Center depart every 30 minutes starting at 5 p.m. from Mulberry Pond. The Descanso Railroad will operate during the event.

The celebration is part of after-hours gatherings designed to engage the community and showcase Descanso Gardens’ cultural programming. The Perenchio Foundation partially funds the event.

Admission is free for members and La Cañada Flintridge residents, with no registration required.
