Macy’s Pasadena Plaza will open a new store today. Right inside the venerable South Lake Avenue landmark we all know and love.

Macy’s Backstage — a new off-price shopping area that’s a store-with-store — launches today with approximately 11,300 square feet of dedicated retail space on the store’s third level.

The first 200 customers will be treated to giveaway gifts (the store opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday).

Store Manager Angela Berardo says the new store-within-store promises a shopping experience featuring significant savings on fabulous finds

“There are three things that are really important to Macy’s Backstage,” Berardo said Friday. “It’s really about the shopper that enjoys finding great fashion at a great price and shops often. It’s off-price, on-trend and arrives daily.”

“We’re getting deliveries on a daily basis,” she said, adding that makes for great shopping but the pressure’s on to buy that great find now because it likely won’t be on the shelf in a day or two.

The product categories run across the gamut.

“One of the key components of Macy’s backstage is our assortment,” she said. “The assortment is fashion-forward merchandise for men, women, children, while including expanded assortments of beauty brands, jewelry, designer, handbags and added categories, such as gourmet foods, home decor, pet supplies toys, kids’ shoes, and electronics.”

Helpful sales colleagues, known as the Backstage Crew, are available as well as convenient amenities like time-saving mobile check-out stations and three-way mirrors in fitting rooms.

Shoppers can use their Macy’s credit card to earn and redeem Star Rewards at Backstage locations, creating a seamless experience for those shopping at both Macy’s full-line and Backstage stores.

Part of the appeal to shoppers is that nothing’s changing with the full-line store, but Backstage offers them an added way to shop.

“We believe that Macy’s backstage is going to be offering a compelling assortment, speed and value, and a great shopping atmosphere for our customers inside of our big box stores,” Berardo said. “So the customers will be getting the best of both worlds.”
