Mayor Victor M. Gordo will kick off the holiday season on Friday, December 3, by leading the Mayor’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of City Hall, his first time officiating.

The tree itself is scheduled to arrive at City Hall where it will be erected in the rotunda and decorated by city crews.

The big moment every year comes after the Mayor counts down to zero on the steps of City Hall, flips the switch and the beautifully decorated tree blazes with lights.

Families can also enjoy festive musical performances by local young people, including 10-year-old Anderson Mathis, a 5th grader at Polytechnic School.

As has been the tradition in recent year, former Pasadena police Lieutenant Rodney D. Wallace will emcee the cheery affair.

A holiday craft contest is also on the program, which will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

In addition, Pasadena Fire Department officials will be in attendance to collect new, unwrapped toys for the “Spark of Love” Toy Drive, a City Hall announcement said.

Attendees are requested to wear a face covering and to stay home if they feel sick to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
