Meet the Rose Queen and Royal Court at an Open-to-the-Public Pasadena Rotary Meeting

Published on Nov 14, 2021

[UPDATED] The Pasadena Rotary Club will have the 2022 Tournament of Roses Rose Queen and Her Court as special guests at the club’s weekly meeting on Wednesday, November 17, starting at 12 noon.

The meeting is open to the public. At this time, only members or guests with proof of vaccination or proof of Covid negative test within 48 hours before the meeting may attend.

Queen Nadia Chung of La Cañada High School, the 103rd Rose Queen, will lead her Royal Court – Jeanine Briggs of John Marshall Fundamental High School, Abigail Griffith from Pasadena High School, Jaeda Walden of La Cañada High School, Swetha Somasundaram of Arcadia High School, Ava Feldman of South Pasadena High School, and McKenzie Street from Flintridge Sacred Heart – as they are honored at the meeting as iconic traditions, steeped in the history of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.

The 2022 Royal Court members were announced on October 4. Coronation ceremonies were held at the front lawn of Tournament House on October 26.

Members of the Royal Court enjoy such benefits as becoming part of an organization dedicated to hands-on volunteerism, discovering opportunities to connect with and give back to the local community, developing public speaking skills, and growing self-confidence. The Royal Court attends nearly 100 community and media functions, serving as ambassadors of the Tournament of Roses, the Pasadena community, and the greater Los Angeles area.

The members of the Royal Court also receive a $7,500 educational scholarship and are given numerous opportunities to make lifelong friendships and become a role model for others.

At the Rotary Club meeting, President Cory Brendel will lead an interview and ask the Queen and Court a series of questions. Members of the audience can also ask questions about the young ladies’ experiences and thoughts about their future.

The meeting will be in-person at the University Club of Pasadena, at 175 N. Oakland Ave. Due to technical considerations related to the unusual format of the upcoming meeting hosting the Rose Court, the meeting will not be available on Zoom or any online platform.

RSVP is required to attend the meeting. To RSVP, email office@pasadenarotary.com or call (626) 683-8243. Lunch is $35.

At this time only members or guests with proof of vaccination or proof of Covid negative test within 48 hr of the noon meeting may attend. Masks are required for all except when actively eating or drinking.
