“Music in the Chinese Garden” Premieres At The Huntington Library

Published on Apr 5, 2022

“Music in the Chinese Garden” will grace The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino every Wednesday afternoon starting on April 20, from 1 to 3 p.m.

“Music in the Chinese Garden” is free traditional Chinese music performed live in the Garden of Flowing Fragrance. A different solo musician performs each week, playing unamplified melodies on classical instruments including the dizi, a transverse, or side-blown, flute;  pipa, sometimes called the “Chinese lute”; and erhu, a two-stringed bowed musical instrument, as you stroll through one of the most magical landscapes in Southern California.

The event may be canceled in the event of rain.

The music series is supported generously by the Justin Vajna Memorial Fund for Educational Programs in the Chinese Garden.

Attendance is free with your admission.

COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended. Masks are optional outdoors and strongly recommended indoors but not required. Visitors should check themselves for COVID symptoms prior to entry.
