A tradition explodes over Altadena tonight. The Altadena Town & Country Club will host a Fireworks Party Friday, June 30, from 6-9:30 p.m.

The event, open to both members and non-members of the club, takes place at the Altadena Golf Course. It features great food, a DJ, kids activities and more, and ends with the local season’s first great fireworks display at around 9:30 p.m.

Craig Sloane, General Manager at ATCC said the club has been holding the annual fireworks celebrations since the early 1950s.

The club’s Fireworks Party has been part of the Fourth of July celebration of many families since.

“Many of the neighbors in close proximity to the Club and the golf course hold their own celebrations – food, dancing, music – with the Club’s fireworks at 9:30 pm being the culmination of their event,” said Sloane.

While the tradition, which brings neighbors, family and friends together continues until today, the fireworks celebration is no longer held on the Fourth of July but on Friday before the holiday.

“This creates a special unique event for the Altadena/Pasadena community and still allows for folks to attend the Rose Bowl or other traditional family events on the 4th,” Sloane said.

According to Sloane, the fireworks will be staged on the golf course driving range.

A chain link fence separates the general community from the golf course fairways. This allows for the effective safety buffer between the staging area and the viewing public.

The Club obtained all the necessary permits for the fireworks, which will be held in partnership with the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department.

Sloane said some of the best viewing is along Hill Ave, between Morada Place and Calaveras.

This year, the Club has implemented a rule of allowing a maximum of 20 guests only per member family.

Members can enjoy adult tickets at $59.95, while children’s tickets range from $24.95 to $34.95. Non-members can purchase adult tickets at $69.95, with children’s tickets ranging from $34.95 to $44.95.

Additionally, fireworks viewing can be enjoyed at a fee of $15.00.

The deadline to make reservations for the event lapsed last June 26.
