Panda Express rolled out on Thursday, March 17, its new fast-food menu item called Orange Chicken Sandwich Bao. And this is going to be available exclusively at its Innovation Kitchen in Pasadena until April 14.
The new menu item is reportedly inspired by Panda Express’ iconic The Original Orange Chicken dish.
The testing of the new sandwich came a year after Panda Express introduced the Orange Chicken Sandwich at its Innovation Kitchen in Pasadena, where it tests out new menu items.
The sandwich consists of chicken breast cooked in a crispy rice puff batter, shredded cabbage, butter pickles and King’s Hawaiian buns.
It also features the signature orange chicken sauce that helped turn Panda Express into a global phenomenon.
This time around, Panda Express’ chefs will be using a toasted sandwich bao which is like a flatbread, for the Orange Chicken Sandwich Bao.
The new sandwich will include a crispy chicken strip coated in the signature Orange Chicken sauce. Additional ingredients used for the new dish include sliced pickles and a drizzle of sriracha aioli.
The Panda Express Innovation Kitchen is located at 3867 E Foothill Blvd. in East Pasadena.
