The cheeseburger was invented in a little roadside spot on the southwest edge of Pasadena in 1924, and now, nearly a century later, that lowly slice of cheese on an accidentally burned beef patty is the stuff of legend.
This year, 40 restaurants, burger joints and eateries will take part in the citywide celebration.
To celebrate even more, participants in the 2022 Cheeseburger Week and the Cheeseburger Challenge, are also offering special meals and deals.
Crave Café on Colorado Boulevard in Old Pasadena, which features a full menu of specialty burgers and much more; and Der Wolf, Pasadena’s restobar, are new to the party.
Der Wolf features a Wolf Burger with French Fries. The burger is a 100% Beef, American Cheeseburger with mayo, bacon, caramelized onion, lettuce, and tomato, or you can get the Impossible version. There’s also a Short Rib Burger with french fries, which features a raised Short Rib with guacamole, mayonnaise, baby mixed greens, cabbage, pickled onions and crispy shallots.

El Portal Restaurant and Yahaira’s Cafe’s Zacatecas Burger with ground beef, ground pork and chorizo with special flavorings in a telera roll with tomato cheese, ham and secret chipotle sauce, and fries.

Clearman’s Galley (The Boat) has the Captain’s Cheeseburger during Pasadena Cheeseburger, a charbroiled patty with Chef’s special sauce, bacon, tomato, green leaf lettuce, and American cheese for $9.95. Make it a combo for an additional $5.95 which includes a drink and your choice of fries, onion rings, or a small salad.
