Pasadena Public Library Hosts its Last Zoomba of the Year

Published on Dec 28, 2020

Join the Pasadena Public Library on Wednesday, December 30, for one last Zoomba – that’s Zumba on Zoom – this 2020.

This virtual exercise class is a great way to get moving right inside the comfort of your home. This may be this year’s last online free Zoom, but it isn’t the last one they are ever doing; the program will continue every Wednesday into 2021, the Pasadena Public Library said.

Zumba is a great way to lose weight, tone up, increase cardio strength, improve coordination, gain self-esteem and feel happy. WebMD.com says there are several different kinds of Zumba classes, and even classes for kids. The workouts range from Aqua Zumba to Zumba Toning that incorporate weights for additional calorie burning and strength training.

In Zumba, working up a sweat in about an hour burns an average of 369 calories – more than what cardio kickboxing or step aerobics can do. With Zumba, you get a great cardio workout that melts fat, strengthens your core, and improves flexibility.

Most people would need to sign up for classes through a fitness center or buy Zumba DVDs to follow the choreographed steps. With the Pasadena Public Library’s Zoomba, you’ll need only to sign up for free, get the Zoom link by email, and get online at 3 p.m. on Wednesday to join the fun.

To sign up, visit www.cityofpasadena.net/library/calendar, click the December 30, 3 p.m. tab, and fill up and submit the online form. Registration is required per session and does not include the whole series.

The class is encouraged for adults 18 and above. Beginners are welcome.
