It’s that time of year again – Pi Day. And what better way to celebrate the mathematical constant π than with a delicious slice of pie?
Old Pasadena has two delicious pie shops that are ready to satisfy your celebratory sweet tooth: The Pie Hole and I Like Pie Bake Shop.
The Pie Hole is bringing back its Matcha Tea Pie for Pie of the Month, which is also its star pie for Pi Day. You’ll definitely want to check out their location in Indiana Colony for even more decadent options. The Pie Hole is known for its scratch-made, high-quality pies in unique flavors like Mexican Chocolate, Earl Grey, and Cereal Killer. They also offer other baked goods and house blend coffees that are organic, Rainforest Alliance Certified, and roasted to perfection.
I Like Pie Bakeshop, founded in 2012, is also located in Old Pasadena and offers a mini assortment that includes one of each menu flavor plus two of their pop-up flavor Nutella Brownie. This bakery specializes in crafting personal-sized pies using all-natural ingredients, including vegan and gluten-free options. You can choose from adorable cupcake-shaped pies, portable handpies, two-bite mini pies, savory pot-pies, and gorgeous full-size 10” pies. Pair your pie with their thoughtfully crafted coffees and ice cream from local California businesses for the ultimate treat.
No matter which pie shop you choose, make sure to order early so you don’t miss out on the Pi Day festivities.
Pi Day was founded in 1988 by Larry Shaw, an employee of the San Francisco science museum, the Exploratorium. It’s observed on March 14 since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant figures of π. So, whether you’re a math enthusiast or just love pie, Pi Day is the perfect excuse to indulge in a delicious slice (or two).
